Dear Superintendent O'Malley
“When we lose the right to be different we lose the privilege to be free.” This quote is portraying the fact that choosing to look different, is part of being free. A proposal has recently been made to the Board of Education to make school uniforms required. If approved, this would become effective to the student body in grades K-12. Deciding to go along with this proposal would bring more negative effects than good. School uniforms would not be good in the current economy, uniforms don’t help academic performance, and uniforms limit freedom of expression.
First, school uniforms would not be good in the current economy of our country. Currently, our country is in an economic crisis. So many people are being frugal and conserving their money so they do not go into major debt. For some, they cannot afford to buy any more than what they need. Making school uniforms a requirement would hurt and inconvenience those who already have many clothes, and those who cannot afford to buy anymore. Although some say the cost of uniforms would be worth it, others would not agree because of the financial needs of others. Also the inconveniences of buying clothes that are not going to be worn outside of school. The cost of buying school uniforms would not benefit the populace in an economical crisis.
Secondly, adding school uniforms does not have a significant influence on the academic performance of the student body. A study was done of the effects of school uniforms on the student body of some schools. Supporters of school uniforms claimed that instead of focusing on clothing, students would focus more on their studies. But the studies made proved that school uniforms had no significant influence on the academic performance of the student body. Therefore it would be a waste of funds on the behalf of the school board to purchase uniforms that would not help a student’s performance.
Finally, wearing school uniforms takes away a part of a student’s freedom of self-expression. Many youth, in general, express their personality through what they wear. Applying required uniforms to schools may make some students that they do not like or are uncomfortable wearing. Taking away someone’s right to self-expression is wrong. Although some advocates of school uniforms think that students can express themselves in other ways, not allowing someone to wear what they like is still taking away that freedom of self-expression. Everyone has the right to express themselves in whatever way they please. But applying school uniforms takes away part of that right.
Making school uniforms a requirement would bring more negative effects than good. Uniforms would not be in the best interest of those in financial need. Uniforms do not help improve the academic performance of students. And uniforms limit the ability of students to express themselves. To ignore the state of the populace and the right of self-expression would be a huge mistake.
          Sincerely, Jayden Morton

Dell Gamer Pro Boardroom Essay

Hello Dell Inc., My name is Jayden Morton and I would like to introduce you to my new line of gaming computers. My most notable version is what I call the Gamer Pro. Selling my Gamer Pro would give you a massive edge over your rival Apple Inc., and other companies. Considering the fact that sixty-eight percent of the American public play computer or computer related games, this would be a great business opportunity for you. Especially due to the fact that neither you nor Apple currently have gaming computers on the market. And for an affordable price, I can ship a quantity to your distribution center for consumer evaluation. Also, for the same price and can ship more to your centers when the need arises.
The " Gamer Pro" is the latest and greatest in computer technology. With 2360 MB of memory, it has twice the storage space of your latest computer. A 9.0 Ghz processor makes my computer faster than any you currently produce. My "Gamer Pro" is so powerful, that it can control all of the logistic systems of a city the size of New York.

The "Gamer Pro" is great for multi-tasking. It has duel super drives and a the best liquid cooling system available. Making it fast and able to run for hours without overheating. A 24" LCD monitor allows three different programs to be displayed on one with eight inches of space per program. No other computer in the world has this one of a kind ability. Which is what I am offering to you.
My computer is also the best in the gaming category. The "Gamer Pro" delivers blue-ray quality video. And, it delivers the smoothest game-play experience ever on a computer. Rivaling that of the X-box 360 and the PS3. Also, with the additional purchase of a custom made receiver bar and an HDMI cable consumers can play their computer games on their TV.This is made more convenient with the inclusion of a wireless keyboard and mouse included in the package. Consumers would love to have this feature available to them.
Internet viruses and computer hackers are no problem with the "Gamer Pro" unlike other computers. Encrypted coding allows for a safe and secure internet experience. This type of security is not on any other company's consumer line. The moment you hit save, a duplicate of that file is automatically saved to a second hard rive at one of our secure locations. Also, the firewalls used by most major industries are included in security.
Although you have many more proposals to hear please give considerable thought to mine. Not selling my computer would be a mistake. You would be missing out on an incredible business opportunity. You should take my offer before Apple get close to this technology. Doing so would be a decision that you will not regret.

Reflection on My Commercial

My commercial was about Fanta. I am satisfied with this end product, but there are areas that I could improve on.
I liked my advertisement because it was funny, creative, and well thought out. While filming my commercial, I felt I was good at being funny, memorizing my lines (few), and doing imitations (bad). There were elements I could have improved on though. For example, I should have tried to remain focused more, tried not to laugh in the middle of scenes, and I should have put more elements into each scene. Also, I should have included more and talked more about Fanta in my commercial. Therefor enticing the viewer to buy Fanta after seeing so much of it. What I liked most about the commercial was writing the script because I got to be very creative and add in humor. Also, I liked collaborating with my partner (Sherwin) to discuss ideas for the advertisement. My goals for next time are to make my ad funnier, endorse the product better, and have the video edited better. While I was working on my commercial, I discovered a few things about myself.

1: I laugh too much.
2: It is hard for me to stay in character during a funny scene.
3: I am a TERRIBLE actor.
The mentor authors who acted as an inspiration for my ad were Fanta commercials, NigaHiga, and his How To videos.
You can see their effects come through throughout my ad. They especially stand out when the narrator (me) throws the video at Nerd (Sherwin), and when Nerd gets bullied by the gangster (me).
Overall, I think my commercial was very funny, fun to make, and I am satisfied with it.

Ad Campaign

I have seen so many different ads that it is starting to get annoying. But my favorite on was about a Volkswagen which I saw during the Super Bowl. A little kid dressed up as Darth Vader was trying to make things move by using his hands like "Force Wielders" do in the Star Wars movies. Every time he tries he fails and get sad. When his dad gets home, the kid tries to use The Force on the car, which is a Volkswagen and activates it. The little kid is happy, but it was really his dad using the remote star on the keys to turn on the car. This was funny to me at the end. Volkswagen tried to advertise a car in a funny way. What I didn't like about the commercial was that they hadn't explained much about the car, enticing less people to possibly buy it. This was still pretty funny. A little more entertaining than those old commercials that just show the car driving.

The College and Career Unit

Over the course of this unit I have learned many valuable things that will help me in the future. How to do research, write a resume, write a college essay, and even how to go through an interview! Also choosing which college is best for me.
During the beginning of the unit I learned about high school schedules what colleges expect you to do in high school to be excepted. Later on, I focused in how to get accepted by the college of my choice. During this time I  even had to complete an application. Then I had to research different majors and which colleges offered the one I wanted and fit my criteria. And how to get along with my professors!
For the remainder of the unit, I focused on choosing an occupation and how to actually get the job. I had to learn how to write a resume. Also, I had to write my own letter of recommendation and answer job interview questions.
After I had my interview with Mr. Figueroa and when all this is finished I will keep my college and career folder along with all the important papers I received ( resume, application, etc. ) in a safe place. By the time I am in high school and college I will take these notes out and study them so that I can be successful .
